Year 6 Long Term Plan

Welcome to Year 6! Our teachers are: Miss Lawrence & Mrs Weldon for 6LW and Miss Parvin for 6P. Our teaching assistants are Mrs Grainge and Miss Jowett. We are really excited for the year ahead and look forward to working with you to ensure your child has the best final year of primary school!

P.E Days
Our P.E days this year are Wednesday and Friday.  Children should come to school in their P.E kit on these days.

Year 6 Assembly
This year, each year group will be presenting an assembly for parents and carers so that we can share our learning with you. Our Year 6 Assembly will be on Wednesday 25th October 2023 at 2pm in the school hall. We hope to see you there!

Homework
We would really appreciate your support with the homework process. We ask that your child does 10 minutes of daily reading, practise of weekly spellings and practise of weekly times tables (Times Table Rockstars). These can be found in the homework booklet. Homework projects are optional. From Spring term (January), we will set a weekly task for English and Maths in readiness for secondary.

Applying to secondary school
Although it sounds too soon to speak about secondary school, applications will open in September 2023. You will be sent a letter to remind you and tell you how to apply. As part of your application, you can choose up to 4 preferred schools. It is recommended that you choose 4 different schools to give you the best chance of being offered a place at one of your preferred schools. Check https://www.stockton.gov.uk/apply-secondary for Open Evenings.

2024 SATs Timetable
The key stage 2 tests are timetabled from Monday 13th May to Thursday 16th May 2024. As you know, your child will sit their SATs tests in May 2024 so we sent a letter on Parent Mail with all of the information you need regarding the SATs process.
If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us via JFYear6@junctionfarm.org.uk

Thank you,
Year 6 team J
