Our two Year 5 classes are 5C (taught by Mrs Crinnion) and 5W (taught by Mrs Weldon). In the Year 5 team, we also have Mr Postgate, Miss Brittain, Mrs Brown and Mrs Badger supporting our learning.
School Day
The School day in Year 5 starts at 8:40am and ends at 3:15pm. Year 5 children enter school via their classroom door and are met by their teacher. Children are dismissed from their classroom doors at the end of the day.
Homework
At the start of each half term, your child will receive an information booklet. This will contain information about the curriculum and half termly homework project.
Weekly homework includes reading, times tables and spellings which will be tested on a Friday. If you have any concerns or questions about your child’s homework please feel free to contact us.
In order to do homework effectively children will need pencils, a ruler, rubber and colouring pencils. Your support with homework will be a great help.
P.E.
Kit consists of the school t-shirt, black shorts and trainers or P.E. shoes. Football shirts are not appropriate. As some of the work will be outdoor, children will also need a jumper and jogging bottoms as the weather becomes colder. We do not have spare kit in school so it is essential that children come to school wearing their PE kit on the days they have PE (Monday/Thursday).
After School Clubs
As usual, there will be many After School Clubs starting up. If they cannot attend for a particular reason, please inform school by phone or provide a written note. Please make sure your child is collected on time.
All dates for each club are on the timetable provided when signing up. Sign-ups take place on Parent Mail.
Playtime Snack
As we are a ‘Healthy School’, children are encouraged to bring a named water bottle to school to keep in the classroom so that they can have a drink when they need one. This should be taken home each night, cleaned, and returned full the following day. They are also welcome to bring a piece of fruit or vegetable to eat at break time.
Key Dates

Seesaw
We will send updates on your child’s learning, key reminders and rewards via Seesaw. Our reading records have also moved virtually this year and should be completed weekly on Seesaw.
