We have a statutory obligation to ensure that the children are engaged in: ‘A daily act of collective worship on a broadly Christian basis’. Assemblies are the perfect vehicle for reinforcing how we want our pupils to be: polite, well-mannered, well-behaved, thoughtful, enthusiastic and creative citizens who have a zest for learning and life. Assemblies are also a good opportunity for reinforcing British culture and traditions, culture of other countries, as well as exploring moral and historical tales as well as religious stories, ideas and practices of religions other than Christianity. To make it an act of worship, there will be a prayer and an opportunity for reflection.
CLASS ASSEMBLIES
Each class does one class assembly per year. These are timetabled to ensure that they are spread across the Autumn, Spring and Summer term. The class teacher will invite parents to attend. They are invited to stay for coffee and biscuits after the assembly.
END OF DAY
Key Stage 1 & 2 finish at 3.15pm. The children will be taken to the playground and lined up. The class teacher will then dismiss the children when a parent/carer has been located. If your child’s end of day arrangements change, you must inform school.
